Jeralyn Rester, B.M.E.
Director

Ms. Jeralyn Rester is excited to be joining the staff at AFTA this year! A Shreveport native, Ms. Rester has been performing since the age of two in church and various choirs. Throughout her childhood, she was an active participant in choir, including Caddo Parish All Honors Choir and the Talented Arts Program. Ms. Rester received her Bachelors in Vocal Music Education from Northwestern State University in 2014. While at NSU, she performed with three choirs, and was the president of the National Association of Music Educators collegiate chapter there, as well as a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a prestigious music fraternity. Her proudest accomplishment at NSU is the creation of Music Morning, a Saturday morning event full of musical activities for the elementary students in Natchitoches Parish who do not have music in their schools. Most recently, Ms. Rester taught elementary music in Caddo Parish Public Schools for five years, as well as teaching voice lessons during the summers. During her free time, Ms. Rester likes to bake, hang out with her friends and family, and play with her pets: a corgi named Millie and her cats, Franz, Vivace, Irving, Tiny Cat, and Jerry.
